“It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp?” Are you goddamn kidding me? And over Dolly motherfucking Parton, to boot?

And Queen Latifah! The author of “U.N.I.T.Y.,” acting all happy that a song about the despicable fucking occupation of pimping won an Oscar? I realize that the notion of shame must be viewed as quaint in Hollywood, but fucking fake a little for us, will you?

Utterly ridiculous. Good movie, not sure if it deserved the Best Picture oscar, but that song certainly did not in any way deserve the Oscar. I don’t even remember it being in the movie. Maybe it is a politcal statement. Not only does the Academy like gays, it likes rap music too.

See, but the Academy can’t possibly like rap music, because if the members of the Academy actually liked rap music, they’d recognize that awful, awful song for the piece of crap that it is.

Then again, how many times has Phil Collins won? The Academy must hate music in general.

Although I agree with Wolcott; that overwrought “PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMP!!!!” at the end of the song was hilarious.

Why you gotta hate? Pimpin’ ain’t easy, as we have at least two raps songs out there to testify to that fact. Secondly, who give a frack about the academy awards. This isn’t the nobel prize or anything of consequence.

Also, I think that you do not truly appreciate the importance and neccessity of a good pimp. A good pimp protects his women from johns and what not, and loves his hoes. Bad pimps, however, I agree or dispicable. There are better ways to teach a lesson than, now I gotta cut you. Perhaps a time out, or a system of fines.

Dolly Parton rulez, and that song was terrible. I stand by my post. Also, the pop-cultural love for pimping gets on my nerves. It is, after all, basically slavery.

fair enough… Also, all new rap music is starting to sound the same to me. Pimpin’ is a little play out. I think that we should find a new deplorable occupation that should be glorified. Gangster, Pimp, and Drug Dealer are out. I suggest War Lord. Imagine if rappers went around acting like they were War Lords? It would be pretty sweet.

BTW. Dolly Parton defies all laws of strucural engineering. She must be held up with invisible wire or something which keeps her from collapsing or toppling over.

I actually kind of only agreed with the second half of the comment actually (the bad pimp vs good pimp). I still don’t think the song should have won. Just because I don’t want Steve to think I don’t think he’s BRILLIANT. Which one should have won instead?
